Bruce moved to Skagway, Alaska in 1993 after graduation from the University of Washington. His father was a cabinet-maker and his grandfather carved wood as a hobby. In the pursuit to transform the raw fossil ivory and raw Yukon gold into timeless pieces of art, Bruce creates simple yet bold designs that emphasize the beauty of the resource and tells the story of the land from which it was found.
Bruce’s art is displayed in public and private collections and juried exhibitions. His pieces are displayed publicly in the Municipality of Skagway’s Museum, and Statewide in the Anchorage Museum of History and Art. His work has been featured in the Alaska Magazine and Up Here Magazine.
